Wangechi Mutu

Exhibition Identity,  publication and merchandise for Kenyan-born, Brooklyn–based artist Wangechi Mutu. This was the first major representation of the artist in Australia and featured drawing, installation, video, sculpture and collage. Mutu's artwork explores themes such as colonialism, race and gender.

The publication was designed to compliment the artist's aesthetic by mixing together several materials, such as the box-board cover foiled in bright gold and the contrasting uncoated and silk stocks used on the text pages. The dust jacket adds to the layered effect and the die cut end papers reflect Mutu's work –– where light shines through bullet holes shot into the wall of the installation.

A pack of limited edition playing cards was made featuring Mutu's collages as well as a poster and postcard set.
